On January 26, 2021, a meeting was held at the Prosecutor’s Training Center of Ukraine, where participants discussed strategic plans for potential joint trainings that are based on case studies involving different systems of alternative sanctions for prosecutors. The case studies will also reflect the international experience of the Norwegian Correctional Service.
The meeting was attended by the executive director of the NGO “Expert Center for Human Rights” Vyacheslav Svirets, head of the Department for Supervision of Law Enforcement in Judicial Proceedings and Probation of the Prosecutor’s General Office Roman Romanchuk. The “NORLAU” Project was represented by the head of the Prosecutor’s Office, Bjørn Larsen, director of the Western Region of the Norwegian Correctional Service Per Sigurd Våge and legal adviser Mariia Rudko. The Prosecutor’s Training Center of Ukraine was represented by the head of the External Relations Department Anastasiia Markelova and the senior specialist of this department Mykhailo Yampolsky, the head of the Analytical Department for the training of prosecutors Dmytro Lotyuk and the expert of this department Vasyl Koziy.
The parties also discussed the possibility of expanding the training program by inviting active prosecutors, judges or lawyers in order to develop common practices and deepen knowledge of international standards.
