On November 9-10, 2021, the Prosecutor’s Training Center of Ukraine hosted a training course “Prosecutor’s Supervision of Observance of Laws in Places of Detention”, which included the following trainings:

“Transformation of Prosecutorial Supervision of Observance of Laws in Places of Detention into a Function of Counteracting Prosecutors against Violations of Human Rights in the Law Enforcement and Penitentiary System”, “Prosecutorial Supervision of Observance of Laws in Places of Detention”.

On November 9, heads of the regional prosecutor’s offices improved their competencies in organizing the activities of prosecutors on combating human rights violations in the law enforcement and penitentiary systems, including vulnerable categories of citizens.

On November 10, trainers focused their work on prosecutors’ development and improvement of their competencies in law enforcement, detention, pre-trial detention, and the execution of criminal sentences, including for vulnerable citizens, and for law and human rights in prisons.

Viacheslav Svirets – executive director of the expert center for human rights;

Oleksandr Mykhaliuk – Head of the Department for Supervision of Observance of Laws in Places of Pre-Trial Detention and Application of Measures of Influence for Administrative Offenses of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine;

Oleksandr Fedoruk – Deputy Head of the Department for Supervision of Observance of Laws in Places of Imprisonment and Probation Bodies of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine;

Ruslan Horiachenko – Head of the Human Rights Department of the National Police of Ukraine;

Serhii Atamanchuk – Deputy Head of the Department for Organization of Execution of ECtHR Decisions, Analytical and Documentary Support – Head of the Department for Analytical Work and Organization of Execution of ECtHR Decisions of the Department for Combating Human Rights Violations in Law Enforcement and Penitentiary Areas of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine;
